Donghwa Ode Gallery presents a group exhibition featuring the works of Hoo Chang Lee, Sydney Cash, Yong R Kwon, and Raphael Shirley. The works of these artists all uniquely explore the weight and presence of shape. Raphael Shirley and Yong R Kwon’s pieces utilize light to manipulate the gravity of the structures they create. Sydney Cash’s segmented and curved lines of block imply movement within the piece, challenging its fixed nature. Hoo Chang Lee's pair of obelisks are planted in granite, emphasizing immobility and weight. But the use of casted glass, through which light and objects are constantly shifting and moving challenges the idea of the piece's permanence.
