DONG CHUL HA
Dong Chul Ha (1942-2006) left a lasting legacy upon modern Korean art history as an abstract painter and printmaker. The distinct themes of his work were focused on light as the sublime of universe. Light also expresses the energy of nature. His work was composed clearly by vertical and horizontal lines, circles, a grid formation and geometric structures. Ha served as the Chairman of the Korean Contemporary Print Association from 1990-1991 and as Dean of College of Fine Arts at Seoul National University from 2000-2001. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship at the Tyler School of Art in Temple University, and received the 1974 Prize from the Minister of Culture & Information at the Korean National Art Exhibition.
