SEUNG

WON

SUH

(b. 1941)

Much like the recurring theme of his paintings, Seung Won Suh has endured the waves of transformation and trends to distinguish himself as a pillar of contemporary Korean Art. His work has been coherent to the theme of ‘simultaneity’ for over 40 years, a remarkable feat of consistency to stay current in a dialogue of temporary aesthetics that constantly switches subjects. Transforming out of the statements of obvious space in his earlier works, his most recent paintings explore depth and light in an erosion of pastel toned color planes on the canvas to create a meditative echo.
